These races started and finished at the St. Ives outdoor sports centre.   Both events were very well organised with plenty of marshals and the weather conditions was mainly overcast and windy.

Mayor's Fun Run

This was a 3K race over grass and running track, aimed at junior runners and those not yet ready to tackle 10K.  Ramsey Road Runners entered 5 club members, where there were 141 finishers.  Well done to Molly White for winning the Under 9 Girls category.  All finishers earned a well deserved quality medal. 

10K

An undulating "out & back" course on mainly traffic free roads.  Taking runners from the outskirts of St Ives town, along a quiet rural lane, to the taxiways of RAF Wyton Airfield, returning to the finish at St Ives Outdoor Leisure Centre.  St. Ives town is very historic and picturesque and it is a shame runners were steered well away from it.  This also leads onto the absence of town supporters and instead being cheered on by the few RAF Wyton Guard Force members (who were doing an excellent job).  As for many races, heavy road restrictions have taken their toll and town centers along with the  crowds are now being avoided all together.  This year Chip Timing was used, which significantly restricted the length of the start line, resulting in a bit of a bottleneck to ensure we cross the over the mats.  There was a field of 643 runners, where RRR entered 17 club members.   The windy conditions hampered prospects of any PBs, however, Simon Mead, Andrew Brett, Samantha Prior and Libby Mead all pulled it off.  Congratulations to Michelle Prior for winning the Female 20-24 category.  All finishers were presented with a well deserved medal and goody bag.
